Jon Stewart's show last night included comments by Erin Burnett of CNBC. Essentially, her point about the recent toy recalls is that we wouldn't want to make China angry as they might mess with the U.S. financial markets.  Who cares about injuring kids?

She is an idiot... (ericy - 8/17/2007 10:27:53 AM)

She is only on TV because she is eye candy.

Earlier she had some comment in relation to the lead paint question.  She said something to the effect that "People need to consider that if we crack down on this sort of thing, that it will mean an increase in prices at WalMart".  She had to backpedal this morning and say "well, of course we cannot allow lead paint in toys".  She must have gotten some letters or some such.

If I were a writer for the Daily Show, I would include a gag about how the Chinese were soon going to start making toys out of nuclear waste, and all of the lead paint on the older toys can help to protect us against radiation sickness...

The Bush administration's broken-down regulations (TheGreenMiles - 8/17/2007 2:19:06 PM)
The FDA and FTC can't protect us from bogus Chinese products, and the FCC can't protect us from babes with microphones.
