Former Republican Governor Linwood Holton hosts successful event for Pollard in Irvington

Irvington - On Saturday at the home of Bob Lee and Suzy Stephens in Irvington Governor Holton, Virginia's first Republican Governor, kicked off a group named "Republicans and Independents for Pollard" to support Albert Pollard's bid for State Senate.

"Regardless of party, I support candidates who will do the right thing for Virginia and that is why Albert if the right person for the job." said Governor Holton.  "I worked hard to create a system where party labels don't stop qualified candidates from getting elected.  Albert is the right man for Virginia - regardless of your party label."

Gov. Holton told the story of when he was first campaigning back in the 60's and having asked someone why they were going to vote for him the person replied "You have shaken my hand 5 times this week and asked for my vote.  Anyone who works that hard deserves my vote."  Governor Holton followed by saying "That is how hard Albert has worked representing our values -- and he will do so again."

Now anyone want to forward me a link for "Democrats for Stuart"? Go Albert!

endorsed the more conservative Myers in the GOP "primary". Kind of hard to spin this one on their favor. You should read the comments.

If they are dedicated Republicans, then they voted in the primary. If they voted in the primary, then they signed a pledge to support whomever won the primary, which thankfully was Richard Stuart. Any support of Pollard at this point would violate their pledge and make them liars and hypocrites.

As for Stuart; he's redone his campaign logo, which is now bright blue. That's as close to Democratic support as he's gonna get.

Holton's daughter is Kaine's wife... (ericy - 8/1/2007 9:45:48 AM)

They had a story in the news shortly after Kaine's inauguration about how Kaine's wife had gotten a 2nd chance to live in the governor's mansion.

What's your point? (Chris Guy - 8/1/2007 3:23:44 PM)
Albert Pollard and Tim Kaine are two different people. Does Gov. Holton go around holding fundraisers for just any old Democrat?
