According to Not Larry Sabato, Gerry Connolly has asked the Democratic nominee for Clerk of the Court in Fairfax Co., David Miller, to withdraw from the race and wants to replace him with Dana Kauffman, who's stepping down as Lee District Supervisor.

Anyone who reads NLS knows how Ben felt about Miller, and he argues that Kauffman on the ballot could tip the Barker-O'Brien Senate race in our favor.

Just confirmed... (James Martin - 7/30/2007 9:54:42 PM)
This is such a great showing of Gerry Connolly's leadership and I agree with Ben that Gerry just helped tip the Senate to the Democrats.

On the other hand... (AnonymousIsAWoman - 7/30/2007 10:25:58 PM)
an even better showing of Connolly's leadership would have been to have recruited a better candidate to start with and not had this embarrassment.

That's what I keep wondering, (Chris Guy - 7/30/2007 10:49:32 PM)
how it ever got to this point to begin with. Thankfully this latest business with his taxes was the nail in the coffin.

Connolly (Draft Me Please - 7/30/2007 11:00:43 PM)
gets no credit for leadership on this matter, he stuck with a candidate that many had grave concerns about for far too long. He is not a leader, leadership would have been finding a better candidate or at least not propping up Miller.
