Virginians to Unveil Rep. Tom Davis and Frank Wolf's Failing Report Cards on Iraq

Constituents Urge Davis and Wolf to Break With Bush and Vote Against Endless War in Iraq

Virginia - On July 12, 2007, the U.S. House of Representatives successfully passed legislation that would bring a safe and responsible end to the Iraq war, despite Reps. Tom Davis' and Frank Wolf's votes against the measure. On Tuesday, at the district offices of both Tom Davis and Frank Wolf, Virginians will unveil failing report cards on Davis and Wolf's Iraq voting record.

Since the start of the war in 2003, Tom Davis and Frank Wolf have supported President Bush's reckless Iraq policy with vote after vote after vote. Now that more than 70% of the American public is calling for the withdrawal of nearly all troops from Iraq by April, when will they finally vote for a binding timeline to end the war?

"Last week's vote was an opportunity for Frank Wolf to redeem himself for his abysmal record of blind obedience to President Bush's reckless Iraq war policy.  After voting in lockstep with President Bush despite Virginians overwhelming opposition to endless war, Wolf buckled when the time came to show some backbone," said Tina Kocak, Iraq Summer organizer in congressional district 10.

"Tom Davis continues to be out of touch with his constituents who overwhelmingly demand a responsible end to this war," said Hadley Birkett, Iraq Summer organizer in Virginia's 11th congressional district. "He instead continues to vote in lockstep with the President and his failed, `stay the course' policy. He had yet another chance to make the right choice and vote to bring an end to the war and he failed us," added Birkett.

When Davis and Wolf feel they'll benefit... (bladerunner - 7/24/2007 11:42:47 AM)
....they'll vote against their good friend George Bush. GOP are loyal to their clan even if it is not in the best interest of their constituents. GOP first--Money Second, People third.

saving their own political lives (Andrea Chamblee - 7/24/2007 2:59:52 PM)
that's the only thing driving the Republican change of heart. By next election day, they'll be pretending they never supported any "surge."

Supporting the lives of our troops and Iraqi civilians was not enough to give them political courage.

The PICTURE (MohawkOV1D - 7/24/2007 6:02:45 PM)

When is someone going to notice Tom Davis's hair?  Thats the coif-iest coif I've seen on a VA pol ever.  Dumb blonde anyone?
