Connie beats Abbitt in fund race for the second quarter in a row

My words are my own, but I'm not going to hide where I'm coming from. I am working for Connie Brennan, but this is not an official campaign communication.

I'm not usually one to brag, but I can't help myself. Connie Brennan is kicking ass and taking names in the 59th district.

This has not traditionally been the most progressive district in the state, but Connie has pulled together support from all over to beat Watkins Abbitt in fundraising for both quarters. As of the end of the second quarter, Connie had raised $124,548.68 to Abbitt's $124,213.24.

These numbers speak for themselves pretty well -- a progressive Democrat in the most rural district in Virginia is outraising a 22-year incumbent -- but it gets even better when you look at where the money came from:

Connie reported over $14,000 from ActBlue -- Thank you, netizens! -- which has gone up to $18,861 since the reporting deadline 3 weeks ago. This number puts her on the list of the top ten ActBlue fundraisers in the country for legislative races. If you tack on those last 4 grand from ActBlue, Connie has taken in four times the amount raised by the last Democrat running for this seat.

To boot, Abbitt loaned his campaign $50,000 to prop up his numbers, and we're still beating him. Without his self-loan, Connie is beating Abbitt in every fundraising category: total fundraising, total cash raised, in-kind donations, and cash on hand.

This is exactly the momentum we need to take into the third quarter. Connie is working her butt off to win this race to take out a stubborn obstacle to progress and to send the Governor another Democrat so we can keep Moving Virginia Forward-«. It's hard to describe how great it feels that this year -- right on the heels of the election that flipped both houses of Congress and sent Jim Webb to the Senate -- a progressive Democrat is competing so well against one of the longest-running incumbents, and in the most rural part of Virginia.

If we can win here, we can win anywhere Thanks to everyone who has helped.
