blissfully ignorant smug self-certitude of these indulged young people.  The jocks seem to be aware that they should be embarrassed to tout the war without volunteering themselves, but it's clear that within their social circles this type of compartmentalization - the contrast between what they think is good for the country and their sense of their own obligation to make the same sacrifices they demand of others - is considered just fine.  Back in the 40s young rich men who supported the war but avoided service themselves were ridiculed and lost social standing.  Something tells me that doesn't  happen anymore in the rarified atmosphere of the pampered young elite.
