The VTLA pac has given GOP state senate candidate Richard Stuart (28th) a $10,000 donation. What do you suppose the VTLA is expectng of him if he gets elected?

If I really had a clue, I wouldn't be asking. Stuart's a lawyer and Albert Pollard, the Democrat isn't. One of the VTLA campaigns is to get the caps on medical malpractice cases either raised or done away with. Maybe that's it. Stuart has practiced personal injury law and Allen, Allen, Allen and Allen has given him 5K, too.

While I don't advocate frivolous litigation and am not a "trial" (i.e.plaintiff's) lawyer myself, I am a consumer of health care.  Therefore, I hope the trial lawyers intend to do something about the amazingly limited right  to compensation which Virginians have for medical malpractice claims.  This state's very, very limited right to recovery for malpractice victims passed as a so-called "tort reform" measure would shock most people. There's never been any reliable statistical evidence (other than that bought and paid for  by the AMA and its allies) that limitations on (rare) jury verdicts in med mal cases really does anything to reduce medical malpractice premiums or reduce the cost of health care.
