Max says: "On July 13, 2007, I visited Section 60 of Arlington National Cemetery, where the bodies of American soldiers killed in Iraq were freshly interred. Afterwards, I headed across the street to the Sheraton National Hotel, owned by right-wing Korean cult leader Sun Myung-Moon, to meet some of the war's most fervent supporters at the College Republican National Convention.

In conversations with at least twenty College Republicans about the war in Iraq, I listened as they lip-synched discredited cant about "fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here." Many of the young GOP cadres I met described the so-called "war on terror" as nothing less than the cause of their time.

Yet when I asked these College Repulicans why they were not participating in this historical cause, they immediately went into contortions. Asthma. Bad knees from playing catcher in high school. "Medical reasons." "It's not for me." These were some of the excuses College Republicans offered for why they could not fight them "over there." Like the current Republican leaders who skipped out on Vietnam, the GOP's next generation would rather cheerlead from the sidelines for the war in Iraq while other, less privileged young men and women fight and die.

Along with videographer Thomas Shomaker, I captured a vivid portrait of the hypocritical mentality of the next generation of Republican leaders. See for yourself."

Shawn, Did you catch Tom Delay's comment on abortion and immigration? (Dianne - 7/18/2007 7:37:09 PM)
He said that if 40 million babies had not been aborted in the US, we wouldn't need the "illegal immigrants to fill the jobs they (the illegal immigrants) are doing today".  What a bunch of boobs.

Great video.  Hope everyone checks it out!  Thanks Shawn

"Worst Person in the World" says Olberman tonight about Delay (Dianne - 7/19/2007 9:32:39 PM)
Hey Shawn,  Keith Olberman read your diary on Raising Kaine and watched the video, seeing Delay telling the college Republicans about the relation between abortions and illegal immigrants....way to go.

Yep, we now know for certain Keith Olberman reads Raising Kaine (Shawn - 7/20/2007 12:22:05 PM)

From talking to many people who've been there I'd say (Catzmaw - 7/19/2007 8:59:48 AM)
going to the war is the best cure for its support.  My Marine niece was the biggest supporter going over, but after tour number two was thoroughly over Bush and his cabal.  I've found this also from many of my conversations with other people who've been there.

Greatest. Quote. Ever. (The Grey Havens - 7/20/2007 11:02:38 AM)
If you don't believe abortion doesn't affect you, I contend it affects you in immigration. If we had those 40 million children who were killed over the last 30 years, we wouldn't need the illegal immigrants to fill the jobs that they are doing today. (Blank stares from audience.) Think about it.

Ever.... (Dianne - 7/20/2007 11:46:33 AM)
since the first Republican was born!!

Great Catch (Nick Stump - 7/20/2007 11:19:08 PM)
Ah, the next generation of brave Republicans.  I'm almost physically ill to see all these little jerks standing around too good to serve in a war they're all promoting like it was Coke.  What a disgusting group of people.  If I had a child like those, I'd disown them.

Just keep voting for Democrats.  The Republican party has lost it's heart and soul.

We ought to draft every one of those little assholes and stick in the middle of Anbar Province.
