In case you were wondering whatever happened to those famous, historic combat boots from the Webb campaign, they have found a permanent home on display in Senator Webb's office.  The boots that Jim Webb wore throughout the campaign were a gift from his son "Jimmy", a marine (11th generation?) deployed in Iraq.  While they've found their place in a display case in Senator Webb's office, the symbolism of those boots is inspiring new generations of Democrats to get involved and get take responsibility for the future.  In this, Webb's boots are still marching across Virginia.

The picture above is of Jen Little, Chair of Mathews County Democrats, posing with the famous boots.  Jen is a textbook example of the cascading power of Jim Webb's presence in Virginia politics.  Jen was an early Webb supporter and fought tirelessly in her area, a Republican stronghold, for Jim Webb.  Jen is now mounting a power-house campaign for School Board in Mathews

Across Virginia, Webb Democrats like Jen Little are building on the grassroots power of the Webb campaign to bring strong leadership and good governance to every corner of the Commonwealth.  Many early and vocal Webb supporters are seeking Legislative office this year, including Chap Petersen, Janet Oleszek, and Donald McEachin.  Others like Jen Little and Liz Griffith are seeking local office.

Liz was one of the most active volunteers from the Webb campaign.  She assisted with the daily flow of the volunteer HQ and orchestrated everything from phone banks to election day canvassing operations.  Now, Liz is running for School Board in Fairfax, largely inspired by her experience with the Webb campaign.

At every level, Virginia Democrats are stepping up, and while his personal efforts in the Senate are critical to the future of the nation, his legacy in Virginia may have an even more lasting impact. As the Democrats' bench deepens, reach extends, and future brightens, the power of Jim Webb's legacy marches on.

What other Dems were active or influenced by the Webb campaign?

Dreaming of Kate... (The Grey Havens - 7/18/2007 11:29:35 AM)
The biggest disappointment of this election season has to be Kate Wilder's decision not to run against Dave Albo.  Imagine if that beautiful, powerful woman were armed with the current Abuser Fees Debacle.  It's a bright blue district with a corrupt red Delegate.  The fact that he's running unopposed should bring a tear to every Virginian's eye.

And btw, Kate was more than a tireless crusader for Webb. She was one of his very first supporters, one of his most reliable primary volunteers, and the early glue that held the Women for Webb movement together in its infancy.

Don't forget about Miller! (JakeDonkey - 7/18/2007 9:47:31 PM)
John Miller who is running for State Senate in the 1st District was also an early Webb supporter!  I remember seeing him at a Webb event as early as February of last year.  Word is he is going to be a powerhouse in that race of his...

P.S. Jen Little is awesome.
