A Slice of Mudcat

I'll tell you, no matter what else you might think about the guy, nobody else talks like Dave "Mudcat" Saunders.  Check out a slice of vintage Mudcat here.  After you're done listening to that clip, here are a few more:

Mudcat on "Bubba": "...if you ask him if he's being treated unfairly, he'll say, 'F---, yes.'"

Mudcat on John Edwards being "one tough son of a bitch":  "I'd hate to fight him cause you'd have to kill him, because he would fight you to the last second. I want that toughness in my president, because we can't win on a freakin' haircut."

Mudcat on what HE does as rural liaison: "I know what the people are thinking before the band starts and John Edwards gets on the stage. And that is, they're getting screwed."

Mudcat on home court advantage: "And [the GOP] has thrown out God, guns, gays, all this other stuff at us, and the Democrats for the last 40 years have gobbled up the bait. And it's over?we're not going to gobble up that bait anymore. Right now Republican morale is at the lowest I've ever seen it in my lifetime. And it should be."

Mudcat on bluegrass: "I've got to go down to the Dukes Fest in Nashville and help Cooter. I take care of backstage for him, and when kids get lost I get up on the stage and announce, "We've got a kid here. Quit drinking beer and come get your kid!"

Finally, check out the entire interview in Men's Vogue.  Hey wait a minute, Mudcat, isn't "Men's Vogue" kind of metropolitian, er, metrosexual or something?  :)

Mudcat - not the worst person in the world (FishinginCrisis - 7/13/2007 12:45:06 PM)
I know Mudcat's definition of what defines a Democrat makes a lot of progressives uncomfortable, but damn, I'm so glad he's on our side.  And frankly, its important to have an advocate for a group of people that are typically mocked and sneered at by most Democrats.

I had the great pleasure... (Nick Stump - 7/13/2007 2:04:42 PM)
...of meeting Mudcat over the telephone a few weeks ago and I hope I see him at the Edward's Appalachian visit in Eastern Kentucky next week.  Damned nice guy and he's an outstanding advocate for rural Americans.

Let us know how that Appalachian visit goes (Lowell - 7/13/2007 2:12:25 PM)
Thanks!

Mudcat is the right kind of Good Ol' Boy (edgery - 7/13/2007 5:12:41 PM)
I don't always agree with Mudcat but then I'm not from his part of Virginia.  What's important is that he knows the group he's advocating for, and he knows John Edwards.  When he says John's a fighter, I believe him.  And, damn, we do need a fighter to take on the Repugs and turn this country back around!

almost forgot (edgery - 7/13/2007 5:21:36 PM)
