Three Strikes

Mike Shear sounds like an umpire, but one I would not be screaming at for making bad calls.

Three times, Republican gubernatorial candidate Jerry W. Kilgore or his proxies have launched breathless attacks against Democrat Timothy M. Kaine on transportation.

And three times, those attacks have fallen flat, largely because the facts weren't there to back them up.

Kilgore has been swinging AND missing.  Fortunately for Kilgore this is not baseball and he is not out, although he should be.

Shear states:

At the very least, all three were attempts to see whether something negative would stick.

For the most part, it did not.

I would go one step further and point out that this is another example of Kilgore misleading voters about Tim's positions.  It is one thing to launch negative attacks, however, it is entirely something different to assert false statements to attack an opponent.
