See here for the whole story.

While in Vietnam from July 2, Senator Webb paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem, and met with Vice Director of the NA Committee for External Relations Ton Nu Thi Ninh, Deputy Minister of Defense Nguyen Huy Hieu, Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thanh Hoa and Vice Head of the Government Office Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

A 14-hour flight and a bunch of meetings with foreign government officials?  Now that's a nice, relaxing way to spend the 4th of July holiday.  Ha. :)

What a concept (Teddy - 7/7/2007 4:44:55 PM)
Actually go to see the real world, instead of go on a vacation at government expense! (Or, like Tom Delay, check on your sweatshops in Okinawa). I understand Jack Reed, another progressive Democrat, is on his 6th or 7th trip to Iraq. It will be interesting to hear what each of them have to say upon return.

Practicing Foreign Policy? (Teddy - 7/7/2007 4:46:44 PM)
I had another thought: didn't Nancy Pelosi get into trouble with The Decider and Fox News because she talked to a foreign leader? Agghhh!

We all know Jim Webb is no dummy. Given the chance/choice of a 14 hour flight into a country he enjoys and has had business dealings and staying in town available for invites to march in at least 3 4th of July parades, he got out of Dodge....
How time flys and his growth as a public figure!  It was just a year ago that he had to be "taught" how to march in those parades...not march in the center of the street, but go from side to side and grin and shake!

Ha, those were the days! (Lowell - 7/8/2007 7:43:16 PM)
