Webb: "Doing Exactly What I Said I Would Do"

There's an excellent article on Jim Webb in today's Pilot Online.  I love Webb's quote about the Senate being "100 scorpions locked in a jar," and how "[i]t doesn't pay to not be cordial."  I also love Rep. Bobby Scott's comment about Webb, "if you know what you're talking about, people will listen."  And yeah, Jim Webb knows what he's talking about.  Then there's Sen. Dorgan (D-ND), commenting that Webb is "a breath of fresh air" in the Senate.  Finally, there's the assertion by Webb, with regard to immigration - but it could be on pretty much anything - that "I'm doing exactly what I said I would do."

Don't back down, Senator Webb, and don't let Washington, DC change you.  Keep up the great work, and keep on being a "breath of fresh air."  God knows, the Congress needs some fresh air!

I wish everyone could actually see the paper.  This wonderful photograph graces the entire top half of the front page.

Glad to see him tackling some deadly serious issues... (Kindler - 7/5/2007 10:48:09 PM)
...like the massive, unregulated use of private military contractors and the outsourcing of jobs overseas.

Real Congressional leadership, I think, is about taking on issues like these before they have become high-profile and forcing them into the public spotlight.
