According to the Daily Press, "Hampton Commissioner of the Revenue Ross Mugler announced Monday afternoon that he is not going to pursue the Democratic nomination for the 1st Senate District seat."  This opens the door to "one-time House of Delegate candidate John Miller" to take on far-right-wing radical Republican Tricia Stall, who defeated Sen. Marty Williams in a Republican primary on June 12.

Among other things, Stall says she believes in separation of school and state, among other wacked-out ideas.  Apparently, Stall also feels that "Public education today is totally government controlled to socially engineer our society into dumbed down citizenry who will accept and tolerate whatever the government tells them to do."  Wow.

In contrast to slash-and-burn Stall, the Daily Press reports that Miller "has a political background that could appeal to centrist Republicans and Democrats alike."  I look forward to doing whatever I can to help John Miller beat Tricia Stall this November, and I wish him the best of luck!

Thank you to the Hampton Roads GOP (Draft Me Please - 6/27/2007 9:44:51 AM)
for putting another seat in play. This lady is crazy, and with a moderate democrate we can take this one and take a little of the heat off of the other 4-5 key races throughout the state.

What's the nomination deadline? (Nell - 6/27/2007 9:04:56 PM)
I was under the impression (apparently an incorrect one) that the names of candidates to appear on the ballot in the November election had to be filed by sometime last week.

What will be the nominating process in the 1st district and by when does it have to happen?
