George Allen's first smart decision

Looks like the football-tossin' cowboy is going to spare us from another campaign season full of racially insensitive comments (via RD):
Former Sen. George Allen (R-Va.) is adjusting to life after the Senate, starting a political action committee (PAC) and finding other ways to stay busy.

So busy, in fact, Allen said this week he has no interest in running for chairman of the Virginia GOP or mounting another Senate run should Sen. John Warner (R) retire.

"Not with the responsibilities I've taken on," Allen said.... "They would make that impossible."

That's good, because Virginians don't really have an interest in him mounting another run either.  We did vote him out, after all.

These days, George Allen is busy telling anyone who's listening that he's loving Rex Allen ... I mean, Fred Thompson as a 2008 hopeful because "there has been a bit of a void for someone with a proven conservative record."  So, I guess that void is going to be filled by pro-choice Fred?  Yeah, good luck with that.

In other words (Chris Guy - 6/20/2007 9:39:03 AM)
he's talked with various advisors and consultants and found out that he'd have trouble winning the seat.
