Jo Ann Davis goes out on a limb to defend Christmas

Speaking of Virginia's representatives injecting religion into their work:

U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Davis introduced yesterday a resolution supporting the symbols and traditions of Christmas.

"Who would have thought," asked Davis, R-1st, "that we would live in a society where the display of Santa Claus and the mentioning of a Christmas tree would bring out the speech police?"

In her statement, Davis said retail chains have banned workers from wishing people "Merry Christmas" and the Christmas tree has become a "holiday tree. This is political correctness run amok."

Speech police?  Banning Christmas trees?  As if a religion that claims an overwhelming majority of Americans as believers needs Rep. Davis to defend it with this meaningless resolution.  Don't you have anything better to do with your taxpayer supported job, congresswoman?

Of course, if Rep. Davis really wants to defend Christmas, she may want to target the King and Queen of the Anti-Christmas Forces, who have brought the dreaded "Holidays" to the highest levels.

[UPDATE: Sean O'Donnell is challenging Davis.  It's unclear how critical this "War on Christmas" issue will be in this race.  (sarcasm)]
