Death Match: Bull Moose vs. Pander Bear

Once-and-future candidate Waldo Jaquith points out how cool it is that scientists have discovered soft tissue, possibly even DNA material, from an ancient T. Rex.  Now if only they could extract some some DNA from Teddy Roosevelt or Abraham Lincoln.  Then, maybe the scientists could clone them and bring back another extinct species - moderate, sane, sensible, progressive Republicans.

Boy, I'd pay a lot of money to see a Roman Coliseum-style battle-to-the-death between the "Bull Moose" (Teddy Roosevelt) and the "Pander Bear" (Jerry Kilgore).  Hmmmm...wonder who would win THAT one!

Well, I would like to point out that in such tissue, it is not likely that they will find much in the way of DNA.  DNA degenerates over time, so we don't really have a Jurassic Park type scenario occuring here.

However, I do hope they are able to find something.  The more we learn about these great creatures that once ruled the Earth, the more we can admire the way that nature works.

Of course, being a total dinosaur nut, I was thoroughly pleased to see this news.

Now, when it comes to battles between the Bull Moose and the Pander Bear, we already know that the Bull Moose comes out on top (Teddy Roosevelt received more electoral votes than did Howard Taft back in 1912, the only time that the GOP candidate came in third place in a Presidential contest.  The upshot being that when Bull Moose fights Pander Bear, Donkey wins. :-)

Is Russ Potts our Bull Moose this year?
