Attention Conservatives: You Brought Bush, You Dance with Him

Watching the recent Republican debate, you'd think that these Republicans hadn't spend the last 6 years proclaiming the greatness, infallibility, and messiah-like qualities of George W. Bush. Of course, that was back when he was popular.

Glen Greenwald:

It is vital to emphasize repeatedly that the havoc wreaked on this country by George W. Bush is, first and foremost, the work of America's so-called "conservative" movement, which venerated Bush to a degree unseen in the modern presidential era. Here was not a mere President, but "our" Commander-in-Chief during a Time of War, and to criticize him was to criticize America. There were multiple culprits-in-arms along the way -- principally the news media -- but the right-wing movement now seeking to re-invent itself as dissatisfied victims of the Bush presidency in search of a "Real Conservative" to lead it are the ones who bear full responsibility for the devastation this presidency has wreaked on the country.

Now that he is widely recognized as the worst President in American history, not only for his historic, mind-boggling failure in the Iraq occupation, but now he seems intent on trumping that failure, but re-creating the Cold War and instituting a new arms race with Russia.

As they back-pedal away from Mr. 28% approval rating, never allow any of them to ditch the golden boy they brought to the ball.  They dressed him up, brought the corsage, and proclaimed him their very own (prom) king.  Now that they're forced slow dance with him, his bad breath, warts, and legendarily embarassing dance ability, they're stuck with him.

Conservatives, yeah, you guys!  Rudy, Mitt, McCain.  You broght Bush, you dance with him, right into the trash heap of history.
