Republicans Gone Wild!!!

The Richmond Democrat has a great story of intrigue, nastiness, cattiness, and sheer lunacy.  No, it's not the latest episode of American Idol, where people with extremely limited (if any) musical talent are voted on by people with no musical talent at all.  Actually, it's just the Virginia Republican blogosphere, gone berserk as usual.

You know, I was actually reminiscing with someone the other day about how Chad Dotson's old Commonweatlh Conservative - not my favorite blog, to put it mildly - in hindsight seems tame, erudite, reasonable, civilized, and downright moderate compared to the frothing-at-the-mouth ravings of today's "breed" of far-far-far-FAR right wing bloggers.

What's most amazing about this whole  "SWAC" situation is that at least two of them - Staunton Republican committee chair Ann Taetzsch (pictured above) and Augusta County Republican committee chair Kurt Michael (far right, appropriately, of the picture above) - actually are high-ranking Republican Party officials.  Is this what Ed Gillespie signed on for when he came to Virginia to run this insane asylum state Republican Party?  Or how about the nasty, bizarre Mark Tate/RPV situation?  Maybe not, if this is correct.  Run, Ed, Run!

By the way, I second Vivian Paige's question: "The real question is whether the Virginia Political blogosphere will allow itself to be defined by the few who push the boundaries of decency and ethics or the many who try to just do the right thing."

[NOTE:  I presume that Vivian is referring to the right wingers, of course, since I certainly don't know of any Democrats who "push the boundaries of decency and ethics." Sadly, that seems to be exclusively within the province of the "SWAC"s, Virginia Virtucons, and Shaun Kenneys of the world...]

[UPDATE:  There's more from Richmond Democrat on Kurt Michael, "a bully and a coward" who "often portrayed his enemies sitting on toilets or wearing diapers."  Nice, clean, Republican values, in other words.]

I'm sorry. (Kathy Gerber - 6/4/2007 10:08:47 AM)
Shoot the messenger if you will, but Grievous Dog's identity has been well known for a month - at least, or maybe two months...

I mean to say, if I knew this then certainly the mythic "everyone" knew this, because it isn't something that I follow all that carefully.

This blogging business is embarassing sometimes.

Interesting (True Blue - 6/4/2007 10:57:56 AM)
If his identity became public about a month ago that would coincide with when he began trying to "scrub" his blog.  His history only goes back 3-4 weeks now.

It must have taken a little while for the news to make it to Richmond.

Maybe that bit of news got lost amongst the hogsheads on the batteau.

I'm taking full responsibility for my typo of "embarrass" up there btw.
