I Have Nothing Personal Against Connolly

I do have an issue with the fact that there is a strong rumor out there that he is thinking of running for Congress next year.

If he wants to be chairman, he should stay in this election. If he wants to run of Congress he should be candid with the citizens of Fairfax County.

If he runs for Congress next year how is he doing the citizens of Fairfax County any favors?

As far as the other stuff that is been said about him, I can't say anything about because he has always been nice to me and nice to those I see him meet.
In private conversations with people who are running for office, to elected officials, to people he considers allies, I would caution Gerry Connolly to not run for Congress in '08.

He has more negatives than he realizes, but in all fairness and full disclosure I am partly bias since I am going to be working for a Democratic Candidate for Congress in the 11th here shortly.

I would say this to Gerry, you seem like you have a lot of work still to do as Chairman of Fairfax County, stay Chairman and end the speculation on '08. On other races and issues in Fairfax County, I think people here on Raising Kaine (and in Fairfax) just want him to be candid and honest.

We are in a new day in American politics, those who think they can stay in office in the political culture of the past are headed for defeat. If today's politician wants to survive right now, they better do the job they are elected to do.

They will be held accountable, at the voting booth.

If they do what they were elected to do, they will win. If they fail to do what the people want don't expect to be elected or supported.

Best of luck to Chairman Connolly. Looks like he has some issues to clear up himself. I am sure we would welcome here on RK.

We await your diary sir.

The Man Represented Providence District On The Board (Lee Diamond - 6/2/2007 9:34:47 PM)
He hammered his own district to benefit big real estate.

Dave is a nice, polite guy, but I'm not sure that gets the attention of people who are kind of high on the hog.

Just the fact that the word about the big run for Congress is out all over the place is telling.  And frankly, it is ridiculous.  That has been my point about public service.

Of course, politicians are ambitious, but you do not want politicians who are all ambition and largely without values.

Most Fairfax County supervisors have not fought for their constituents.  We have to change this picture.

Connolly Won't Post Here (Deborah Reyher - 6/5/2007 10:01:46 AM)
Connolly ignored Charlie Hall's call for a series of Town Halls to garner citizen input on a tunnel vs. elevated train for Tysons.

Connolly refused to even RESPOND to two letters from TysonsTunnel.org asking for a public hearing prior to the 6/18 vote to fund $400 million "plus 16.1% of whatever" (in terms of cost overruns) for a $5.15 BILLION plan to construct a disastrous elevated train.

And yesterday Connolly said he had "heard enough" from us peons and essentially ridiculed Kauffman's motion for a modified public hearing as "a seductive motion with a different agenda"

In short:
Any Politician Who Disrepects Citizens Is In Trouble
