Immigration reform plan turns off Republican money faucet

Seems the Bush Administration still can't keep their base happy.  World Net Daily reports today http://www.wnd.com/n... that:

Just two days after President Bush slammed critics of his immigration policy, the Republican National Committee has reportedly fired all 65 of its telephone solicitors, as donors are said to be furious over the president's stance to give legal status to millions of illegal aliens.

"Every donor in 50 states we reached has been angry, especially in the last month and a half, and for 99 percent of them immigration is the No. 1 issue," a fired phone-bank employee told the Washington Times.

Republican outrage over President Bush's immigration policy has led to some to create satirical currency such as this

Ousted staff members told the paper Anne Hathaway, the committee's chief of staff, summoned the solicitors and told them they were out of work, effective immediately.

They claim the reasons they were given were an estimated 40 percent plunge in small-donor contributions, as well as aging phone-bank equipment the RNC said would cost too much to modernize.

Ed Rollins, a Republican strategist, confirmed the drop in donations on Lou Dobbs program this evening.  RNC staff however deny any drop in contributions.

The article goes on to say "A Rasmussen poll last week showed only 26 percent of American voters favor the Senate plan. http://www.rasmussen...

It's clear that Immigration reform will be a hot topic along with Iraq in the upcoming elections!

Will this issue affect the Democrats running for office this year and next?

Americans are unhappy with the current immigration system (relawson - 6/1/2007 8:58:02 PM)
It is fundementally unfair to both immigrants and workers.  The current system is designed to supply companies with cheap and exploitable labor.  If that is the goal, it is working.  I don't think that should be the goal and I think the system is broken.

Any politician who supports reforms that harm American workers and to some extent immigrants will face political retribution.  I have my sites set on Hillary Clinton, for example, because of her support of expanding the H-1b "indentured servant" visa - even though it is clearly a tool to offshore jobs and supress wages.

There is also an increasing number of people calling themselves independents.  The two parties are by in large failures.  I hope to see more freshmen elected and incumbents defeated.  Very few people (except some of the current freshmen) deserve to keep their jobs.  I can name a few but for the most part my government is a huge dissapointment.

They can't even balance a budget!  They can't help poor people in a hurricane!  They don't care about working men and women!  They are pathetic loser who have sold out because of a tainted system that encourages fraud and abuse.  Democrats have yet to really reform ethics laws!!!  Why!!!
