Fairfax Chamber of Commerce Concedes Election to Charlie Hall?

Looks like the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce has completely jumped the shark.  First, they erroneously identify Charlie Hall as "Providence District Council, of which Mr. Hall is the Chair."

[UPDATE: Apparently, Charlie does head something called the "Providence District Council," but the Policy Soup story still makes zero sense.]

Ha, so they've already conceded the election to Charlie over incumbent Supervisor Linda Smyth?  As Borat says, "is nice!"  :)

Second, they claim that Charlie "no longer has a website up and running."  They add, "The home page says "Under Construction" and proceed to inquire, "What does Charlie have to hide?"  Uh, hello?  Charlie Hall's website appears to be working great.  Also, Charlie was at a PUBLIC "debate" last night, you know the one that Linda said she didn't have time to attend?  The videos are here, courtesy of Eric:

Green Candidate
Tysons Tunnel
Tysons Tunnel Follow up
Opening Remarks
Hunter Mill Road
Town Meetings
Tysons One High Rise
Funding Education
Dealing with Partisan Disagreements
Biking and Walking

Finally, why is the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce so "concerned for the soul of the democratic party," as a commenter writes?  Or, "is it PO'd at the community standing up to over-development?"

Where's Waldo? How about, where can I get some of what the people at the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce are smoking?

Fairfax Chamber of Commerce Concedes Election to Charlie Hall! (voter4change - 6/1/2007 11:05:10 AM)
Go RaisingKaine.  The mark of a great website is for another website to try to copy.  Policy soup is failing on that front.

What a freaking joke (Chris Guy - 6/1/2007 11:10:32 AM)
A shill for Linda Smythe has the gonads to question whether or not Charlie is a real Democrat?!

I've officially seen everything.

Linda, who's only voted in Republican primaries? (Lowell - 6/1/2007 11:11:17 AM)
Yeah, that Linda.

Those Policy Soup guys (Eric - 6/1/2007 11:28:02 AM)
have got it so wrong their right.  Right as in the political right - that whole story sounds like one of George Allen's hack jobs.  They're saying the words that they want to hear - and it has nothing to do with reality.

For example, the policy soup guys say

...misunderstood the statement "Same question asked of each candidate in order specified"...
and go on to blast Charlie for misunderstanding the order of questions.  Problem is, that quote addresses what questions will be answered, not what order the candidates will respond.  The "order specified" part is not defined within the quote policy soup chose.  Yet they twist it into being about the order and go on to smear Charlie based on faulty logic.  Sounds very George Allen to me.

The actual quote about the order

"[t]he order for answering questions will alternate between the two candidates,"
is about as straightforward as it gets.  Especially if you have ever witnessed a debate.

Linda's supporters - in this case the Tysons-rail-at-any-cost Chamber of Commerce - are playing George Allen politics at it's worst.  What's next, a ham sandwich joke?

I will not link to blogs that blatantly lie (Lowell - 6/1/2007 11:35:27 AM)
I've delinked "Policy Soup" until they correct their egregious errors.

There's no better indication of the real Linda Smyth (Hiker Joe - 6/1/2007 12:01:24 PM)
than these factless, slimy attacks on Charlie Hall by the Chamber of Commerce.

Who do you want in office, Linda Smyth, who is a tool of the development/business community who hides her political history as a Republican or the honest, straight-talking Charlie Hall, who's backing comes from grassroots citizens?

Republicans! (novademocrat - 6/1/2007 12:42:58 PM)
Jason Flanary is a disciple of Tim Hugo - what do you expect?
