Congratulations are in order for Jessica Vanden Berg, former Webb for Senate campaign manager, former Oklahoma state director for Wesley Clark, and currently "campaign manager for the ONE Campaign's ONE Vote '08 initiative."  Today, Jessica was named a "rising star" by Campaigns and Elections magazine. According to Campaigns and Elections, this is "[o]ne of the most prestigious honors in politics."  The magazine adds that "[p]ast Rising Stars have included Paul Begala, Ed Gillespie, Alexis Herman, Karen Hughes, Laura Ingraham, Jim Pinkerton, Ralph Reed and George Stephanopoulos, to name just a few."

In addition to Jessica, another person who played an important role on the Clark and Webb campaigns, Larry Huynh, was named a "rising star" as well.  Congratulations to Larry, with whom I worked closely on the Webb campaign.  I expect that we will be hearing great things from him in years to come, at least as great as Geeeeeoooooorge Stephanopolous. :)

This is a great award (pitin - 5/29/2007 6:15:50 PM)
I have only worked with two people that have won this title, but both went on to be national leaders in progressive politics (on the staff side).

Congrats Jessica, greats things are a coming for you and from you.

I note that Larry worked for another friend (teacherken - 5/29/2007 6:36:04 PM)
Nick Lampson in TX, showing his good taste.  And one of the other winners, Sarah Campbell, is a partner in a firm with someone from Haverford, Chris Klose.

The world is in many ways a very small place.

Congrats Jessica! (Dave Montoya - 5/29/2007 8:07:14 PM)
As well as Larry Huynh!

Congratulations to all Rising Stars! (Stan Davis - 5/30/2007 12:34:35 AM)
I've had some dealings with Larry in the Clark Movement, and he and his associate Brent Blackaby (there are others -- can't come up with the names)at BlackrockOnline have done some amazing things.

Lowell, I'm looking to see you on this list before long.  Rasing Kaine is one of the real successes in the blogosphere.

"Rising Stars" is for people under 35 (Lowell - 5/30/2007 5:34:42 AM)
