Raising Kaine in Onley, VA

I had the opportunity to attend the Rock Church's  Super Yard Sale today on behalf of our Democratic ticket.  This event is an annual fundraiser for the church, and regularly draws dozens of people out to rent booths and hundreds more to shop.  Raising Kaine rented a booth to pass out Kaine literature from, and it was a stunning success!

By the numbers:
Hours at the Yard Sale: 4
Total Cost (lit, booth, etc): $36
SPF of Sunscreen: 36
Price of one of the best clam fritters ever: $3.50
Pieces of lit. passed out: Over 100
People who registered to vote at the event: 1
New volunteers recruited: 1
Number of Republicans won over for Kaine: At least 1
Voters won over for Kaine: At least 8 or 10
Electing Tim Kaine and other Democrats: Priceless

I'd say that of the people who indicated a preference in the race, about 55% picked Kaine over Kilgore.  In Republican-leaning territory like Accomack County, that's great!

If you'd like to set up a booth of your own at some community event, let me know.  Raising Kaine can help you get set up.

Great job Sam!  I look forward to hearing all the details, and also to more of these events.

Way to go, Sam! What (Teddy - 4/4/2006 11:28:16 PM)
Way to go, Sam! What sort of literature did you pass out? Give us some comments and feedback. Will there be other similar events (other than back-toschool nights, how about fairs and fall festivals?

I passed out a Kaine (Sam Penney - 4/4/2006 11:28:17 PM)
I passed out a Kaine bifold published by Va Victory 2005 that was stuffed with a Byrne/Deeds/Voting Info flyer that Raising Kaine had published.  I've got over a thousand of those packets, so if you need some, tell me.  I'd like to encourage every Kaine supporter to look for events like this and go to them for Kaine.
