Viva Vienna! Photos and News

Fun times at the Viva Vienna! festival today.  The place was swarming with people, including a large number of Democrats by the look of the stickers and balloons.  Bloggers were also in abundance, including Not Larry Sabato (Ben) and my RK colleague Rob.  A long-time, knowledgeable observer of this event predicted that Chap was going to win, based on the numbers and enthusiasm of people for Chap vs. the lack thereof for Tom...er, Jeannemarie Devolites Davis.  We'll see if this observer right, but I've always known her to be accurate, fair and balanced. Ha. :)

For more photos and news from the festival, please see the "flip."

[UPDATE: One thing I forgot to mention is that Gerry Connolly was there in his famous American flag shirt.  Connolly told me that his wife had made him the shirt, which I find very impressive given that I can't even sew a button on my shirt.  Ha.]
The Petersen for Senate booth was hopping today. I hear that there were as many as 100 people who came by to volunteer today.  That's impressive any way you look at it!

In contrast, things were vewwwwwwy qwiet at the Davis booth.  Perhaps their supporters were out hunting wabbits?  Ha.

The Charlie Hall booth was looking good as well, and Charlie was busy working the crowd hard all day. I hear rumors that Linda Smyth put in a brief appearance at the festival, but I never saw her.

Del. Steve Shannon talking to Charlie Hall.  Not a bad combination right there! :)

Tom Davis and JMDD looked a bit worried today.  I hear that they refused to even LOOK at the Chap Petersen booth, let alone to stop by and say hello. I also hear that in previous years, Tom Davis would always do that, so something's going on.

JMDD looking cool in her red, white and blue shorts.

I saw Scott Monett, leader of TysonsTunnel.org, and asked him what that other Metro to Dulles booth was.  I went over and they were claiming to be the "official" Metro to Dulles group, whatever that means.  Maybe funded by Bechtel, given all the money they obviously spent on nifty hardhats and other paraphernalia? Hmmmmm.

Thanks! (Chap Petersen - 5/27/2007 7:00:51 PM)
Thanks to everyone that came out today to Viva Vienna.  We stayed strong with at least 15-20 volunteers on the ground until the rain began to pour at 6 pm.  While my opponent was using paid staff as "volunteers," we had a great supporting cast that came on their own time and dime.  The difference was obvious.  Thank you.  We will rest tonight and resume the efforts tomorrow.  Thanks again to everyone who is helping us win (and win back the State Capitol).  Chap

Thanks Chap! (Dave Montoya - 5/28/2007 12:14:51 AM)
Today was great, looking forward for another day tomorrow at Viva Vienna!
