According to Gov. Kaine's office:

Governor Timothy M. Kaine announced today that Chief of Staff William H. Leighty, who has served 29 years in a variety of management roles in state government, will retire on September 1, 2007.  The Governor also announced that Leighty's successor as Chief of Staff to the Governor will be current Deputy Chief of Staff Wayne Turnage.

Who is Wayne Turnage?

Turnage, 48, brings 22 years of experience shaping Virginia's health policy, including a post as the Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Resources, and currently serves as Deputy Chief of Staff.  Prior to that, he served as an advisor to Governor Warner for special projects, including Medicaid reform and general health care issues. For Governor Kaine, he has directed key projects, including the Governor's performance management initiative.

Turnage's first day is Friday, May 25.  Congratulations, and best of luck working for one of our nation's most popular governors! :)
