Republicans looking for an option to corruption, cluelessness and incompetence (aka, Jerry Kilgore) should seriously consider voting for Senator Russ Potts (R-Winchester) this November 8.  You think this guy isn't conservative enough?  Well, here are 10 reasons why he is, and why you should vote for him if you're a Republican.  (P.S. Thanks to Project Vote Smart for providing a great service on the interest group ratings!)

1) Senator Potts received a ZERO rating from NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia during 2004.  That?s right: Potts got a zero, nada, zip on pro-choice issues. On the flip side, the anti-abortion Virginia Society for Human Life gave Potts a perfect, 100% rating during 2003. So much for Potts being a liberal on abortion!

2) Russ Potts is popular with pro-business groups as well.  In 2000-2001, for instance, the Virginia Chamber of Commerce gave Potts an 81% positive rating. Not bad for a supposed ?liberal!? And another pro-business group, Virginia FREE, has given Potts an average positive rating of 71% over the past four years. Again, these votes don?t exactly prove the Kilgore campaign?s frantic, desperate charges against Potts that he?s a ?liberal? or not a ?real Republican.?

3) Americans United for Separation of Church and State gave Potts a ZERO rating for his votes between 2000 and 2002.  Even the Virginia Christian Coalition gave Potts a respectable (for a conservative) 57% rating.  Wow, what a liberal this guy Potts is!

4)  On the environment, the Virginia League of Conservation Voters gave Potts a pathetic 33% postive rating in 2003.

5)  The liberal Virginia National Organization for Women (NOW) gave Potts a big fat ZERO in 2000.

6) The National Rifle Association (NRA) gave Potts an ?A? the last time it rated him.

7) Potts has the best TV ad so far this year, with his hilarious "We Want Potts!" featuring "Grill Man."  C'mon, Republicans, you've got to love a guy like this!

8) Potts is being excluded from debates by Jerry "the Duck" Kilgore.  Even top Repubilcan business executives have urged Potts' inclusion, but "the Duck" has simply quacked in fear.  Just for that reason alone, Republicans should vote for Potts -- a guy who isn't afraid to face the people of Virginia.  You know, the ones that Jerry Kilgore says he "trusts" ("always have, always will" - ha ha).

9) Potts is a conservative Republican who's not corrupt.  Jerry Kilgore is embroiled in an eavesdropping scandal and a "cesspool of corruption" in Kilgore-dominated Gate City.

10) Potts encourages young people -- Republicans, Democrats, independents -- to get involved in politics.  Jerry Kilgore refused to sign a non-partisan letter in the Washington Examiner on this topic.
