Update: Tom Davis and Bush's approval rating

I can't resist updating this with a Bill Kristol quote (smartest thing he ever said):

While on Fox News Sunday, Bill Kristol saves the day for the administration by pointing out that any Republican who dares think of turning back on the war is "being extremely stupid. I mean, the idea that they will get credit for deserting the war at this point -- they voted for the war. ... It's a ridiculous political calculation as well as a dishonorable one by those Republicans who are thinking of jumping ship."

Last week, Tom Davis went to President Bush to let him know how little Northern Virginians -- and all of America's voters - think of his plans and policies. Davis was one of 11 Republicans who told the President the Congressional reps may lose their seats in 2008 if they have to vote with Bush: Bush's approval rate is as low as 5%.

Davis is not following his own advice.  Since then, in the last 50 votes Davis cast, Davis voted the Democratic Party lines a mere four times of his last 50 votes. This includes the Iraq resolutions, Homeland Security votes, and 2008 spending.  In other words, Davis voted the Democratic Party position 8% of the time of the last 50 votes cast.

His latest votes are on the flip.

Republicans march in lockstep - to irrelevancy (Bubby - 5/15/2007 9:08:49 AM)
Check the roll call on all those votes.  Virginia's Republican Reps. all voted like Tom Davis.  While those votes please hardcore Virginia Republicans...the number of Virginians that vote for Tom Davis decreases each election cycle.

Davis needs to wake up and look in the mirror (Rebecca - 5/15/2007 9:49:52 AM)
Davis needs to understand that this time he is just on the wrong side of the fence. There's no fixin' that. Too bad for Tom.

You know what they say. Every dog has his day. Tom has had his and now its his turn to squirm.
