Rudy's "strength" is his weakness

Another great point by Josh Marshall.  As Rudy Guiliani embraces his liberal social side and tries to emphasize his right wing views on "law and order" and foreign policy, we're left with what he believes on the war on terror.  The problem there is that this is a place where Rudy's is awfully uninformed:

Just in the past few weeks, Giuliani has shown that doesn't know the difference between Iran's and North Korea's nuclear programs, and has no idea whether Iran and al Qaeda are Sunni or Shia. Asked recently for his thoughts on the efficacy of the president's escalation strategy in Iraq, Giuliani said, "I don't know the answer to that."

As National Review's Rich Lowry recently noted, when Giuliani responds to voters' questions, "his answers on foreign policy and military affairs aren't deeply informed."

So Giuliani is left with an awkward pitch: vote for the guy who disagrees with the party's base on all the key issues and overlook the fact that he doesn't know much of anything about his signature issue.

And, what we're left with is yet another subpar GOP presidential candidate.

And he's corrupt, too! (Lowell - 5/13/2007 9:47:24 AM)
Check this out: "In Private Sector, Giuliani Parlayed Fame Into Wealth
Candidate's Firm Has Taken On Controversial Executives, Clients."
Also, gotta love the front-page headline, "For Giuliani, 9/11 Led to Riches."  Niiiice, profiting off of a national tragedy.  No wonder why "Clients of Giuliani Partners are required to sign confidentiality agreements," an interview "request to visit his wood-paneled offices overlooking Times Square was turned down," and "a complete picture of the firm and its business is difficult to obtain."  Finally, I love how Giuilani hired "a former police commissioner later convicted of corruption, a former FBI executive who admitted taking artifacts from Ground Zero and a former Roman Catholic priest accused of covering up sexual abuse in the church."

As Borat would say, is NICE!!!

9-11 (Newport News Dem - 5/13/2007 12:21:53 PM)
makes Rudy qualified to be President as much as it did for the Chair of the Arlington County Board.
