Bob James Leaving Off the "Ic"

You know how Democrats hate it when George W. Bush or some other right winger calls their party the "Democrat" Party, as opposed to the Democratic Party, as a childish taunt?  Well, apparently we've got a candidate in Arlington, purportedly a Democrat, who's a bit confused about this.  So let me spell it out: Vote DEMOCRATIC on June 12th, Vote Frank O'Leary for Treasurer!

Oh, any by the way Mr. James, you don't really have to say you're a "Democrat" since you're running in the Democratic primary - I think that Arlingtonians are smart enough to figure THAT one out!  Now, if only YOU could figure out how not to repeat right-wing, anti-Democratic Party nonsense on your signs, we'd all be a lot happier.

P.S.  Oh, and we'll also be a lot happier after Arlington's fantastic Treasurer Frank O'Leary (see his sign on the "flip"), endorsed by Jim Webb and named the best Treasurer in North America, demolishes you on June 12th in the DemocratIC primary. :)

An example of a good sign.

It can be read as a sentence (ortcutt - 5/12/2007 4:00:50 PM)
"Vote Democrat Bob James Arlington County Treasurer, June 12"

I'm not an English teacher, but... (Lowell - 5/12/2007 4:12:58 PM)
...I do believe the word "for" might help if that's the intent. As in, "Vote FOR Democrat Bob James FOR Arlington County Treasurer...."

Instead, I think I'll just vote FOR Democrat, incumbent Treasurer Frank O'Leary, who saved Arlington taxpayers $88 million and who was named the best Treasurer in North America.

A little over the top (code - 5/13/2007 9:00:38 AM)
Got to agree with ortcutt. This is a little nit-picky.
Aren't there about 30 other reasons not to vote for James, anyway?

You may say it's "nit-picky" (Lowell - 5/13/2007 9:07:44 AM)
...but several people I talked to yesterday at the parade, including at least one high-ranking Arlington County official, thought it was at least a bit odd.  Oh, and yes, there are about 30 reasons not to vote for James, and about 300 reasons TO VOTE for Frank O'Leary.  Why is James doing this?  That's the question that nobody seems to be able to answer.

Bob should know better (Arturo - 5/12/2007 9:50:53 PM)
Well, maybe not.  Let's face it: he has not been THAT active in Democratic politics.  Just busy building a resume.  What with all that non-profit bs of Latitudes that's no longer non-profit and should probably be paying taxes.  Shouldn't candidates for tax collector make sure that all THEIR tax business is in order?  Bob makes the Arlington Democratic Party look bad!

The Crowd Loved Frank !!! (charleyconrad - 5/15/2007 2:31:58 PM)
It was great walking in the parade with Frank and the rest of the 24 plus folks who turned out to walk the parade route.  What I really thought was impressive was how many folks Frank knew along the route.  He was running back and forth across the street greeting folks and others were cheering for him and hugging him.  Frank is well respected and admired in Arlington, you could see it and feel it in the crowd !!!  Charley Conrad

A "Good" Sign? (yellowdog22207 - 5/17/2007 8:41:37 AM)
Note that Bob James proudly identifies himself as a Democrat on his readable-from-a-car sign! Being a Democrat is the essence of Bob's new vision for the Treasurer's office.

What? (jeff04 - 5/17/2007 10:30:32 PM)
Is not paying his taxes on time also the essence of Bob's new vision for the Treasurer's office?  What a joke, Ms. Green!
