Return to Craney Island

Back in July 2006, George Allen thought he had made Jim Webb look like he didn't know anything about Virginia by asking him a "gotcha" question on "2,500 acres of one-time river muck" called "Craney Island."  Well, Jim Webb didn't know what Craney Island was back then, but he sure knows what it is now!  According to today's Virginian-Pilot:

On Thursday night, Sen. Webb came to praise the project before about 900 attendees at the Virginia Maritime Association's annual banquet at the Norfolk Marriott Waterside hotel.

In his prepared remarks, Webb, D-Va., said securing federal money for the project is his "highest priority" in the Water Resources Development Act, which Congress uses to allocate money for waterways projects.

What a difference a few months in the U.S. Senate makes!  Now, I wonder if George Allen has figured out where the Senkaku Islands are yet. :)
