VA Democrats Way Ahead of Republicans in $$$

In today's Washington Post, Tim Craig has an article entitled, "Democrats' Funding Edge Promises to Spice Up Fall."  More like "Democrats' Funding Edge Promises Victory in Fall!"  According to Craig, using data from VPAP:

*Gov. Kaine has "more than $800,000 still in the bank -- and all summer to raise money..."

*"[T]he Senate Democratic Caucus PAC had $698,390 in the bank at the end of March" vs. $461,334 for the Republican equivalent.

*"The House Democratic Caucus had $291,000 in the bank, while the House Republican Campaign Committee had $118,000."

*The DPVA had $400,000 in the bank at the end of March, compared to just $79,000 for the Republican Party.

Then, there's Mark Warner hanging out there, including the $200,000 he has in his One Virginia PAC.

The bottom line is that if the "bottom line" matters in terms of money, Democrats should do quite well this November.  And if money raised is an accurate proxy for enthusiasm, that also bodes well for Democratic prospects of regaining control of the State Senate, and gaining seats in the House of Delegates.

Let's not let up for a minute, though, and let's pound home the message that Virginia Republicans are dominated by the Pat Robertson/Bob McDonnell wing.  Let's also make sure that all Virginia voters remember that it's the Bush/Gillespie Republicans - Gilmore, Allen, etc. - who have proven time and time again that they are the party to drive Virginia (and the country) into the ditch financially.  Mark Warner and Tim Kaine Democrats, on the other hand, are moderates who get things done for the vast majority of Virginians.  Which do you prefer?

I might steal it.

It's the logo of (Lowell - 5/10/2007 10:50:35 AM)
DEMPAC, "a political action committee dedicated to securing an enduring Democratic majority in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and to achieving that goal through the empowerment of the volunteer community."

Yeah, Kaine has really "got it done" on Dulles Metro Disaster... (Greg Hoss - 5/10/2007 11:50:33 AM)
...with his allowing non competitive bidding and support for above groundrail.

And those GA Democrats really got it done with their non existent plan for Transportation and trying to kill HB 3202, even after the Governor amended it

Sorry but here in NoVA, Tim Kaine and moderate Democrats have gotten nothing done for us on the most important issue in Transportation. I appauld the Governor for amending and passing the bill, but thats about all I can give him credit for

As you know, I strongly disagree with (Lowell - 5/10/2007 11:56:35 AM)
those who support an "aerial option" for Tysons.  I also think that the Republican transportation bill was a monstrosity, and although Tim Kaine improved it, it's still not even close to what we need, just barely scratching the surface.  But here's my question for you:  do you really think that if Republicans were in charge, they'd do any better?  My guess is that they would be well on the way to Jim Gilmore territory again, before Mark Warner came in to pick up the pieces and get the state moving "forward together" again.
