The Fairfax County Democratic Committee's Labor Committee will hold its first Labor Roundtable on Thursday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center.

Democratic primary candidates from SD 39, HD 34 and 40 will join area labor leaders and activists to discuss issues of concern to working men and women in Fairfax County.

The following are some of the topics that will be discussed:

What issues resonate best with working families?

What does the Republican incumbents' voting record say about their support for labor?

What can Democratic candidates do to connect with and motivate union voters?

What part can unions play in electing pro-worker candidates?

Please RSVP to the FCDC Labor Committee at www.labor@fairfaxdemocrats.org

Sorry I posted it twice (AnonymousIsAWoman - 4/24/2007 9:52:35 PM)
I'm sort of inept at the techie stuff.  But I do hope people come out to it to hear the candidates and meet some of the folks in organized labor in NOVA.

You can say that again (Jambon - 4/24/2007 10:27:45 PM)
;)

Oh Gee, thanks :) (AnonymousIsAWoman - 4/24/2007 10:30:51 PM)

Not just for union folks (Jambon - 4/24/2007 11:04:30 PM)
Anyone who cares about making workers rights and economic fairness and bigger issue should come out for this.  Being a "union member" isn't a prerequisite for getting involved in the labor movement.

We welcome all passionate populists with open arms :)

I wish I could be there (Hugo Estrada - 4/25/2007 12:05:56 PM)
I have a late meeting today, which will not allow me to make it to this event.

Both of my parents worked in union jobs, which improved their lives a lot.

Please come back and tell us what happened. :)

I meant, a meeting tomorrow (Hugo Estrada - 4/25/2007 11:58:12 PM)
at roughly the same time. I need some sleep.

Terrible Admission (AnonymousIsAWoman - 4/26/2007 10:50:48 PM)
I didn't actually go because I had dinner with a friend considering a serious life change - friendship trumped politics tonight.  But I also have some inside info on labor issues, so I will post a report on it given to me by one the principals who was there.  But it won't be until Saturday.  Sorry guys for the delay.  And if anybody else actually attended, I'll gladly defer to them to post :)

please do (Jambon - 4/26/2007 11:02:22 PM)
I got stuck working late myself :(
