Voters Put Their Money Where Their Mouths Are

They say fundraising is the first primary in a modern-day campaign, especially for a first-time candidate.

I want to thank you for helping me win the first primary by out-raising my opponent almost four-to-one during the first quarter of 2007.  The amount we raised during this period was the third highest of any House of Delegates candidate statewide.

Not only did we bring in more resources, but we also spent our money more effectively, leaving us with $101,000 in the bank - nearly $20,000 more than our opponent.

These fundraising totals are clear evidence that voters in the 79th District agree with our message of positive change. Democratic primary voters want to support a Mark Warner/Tim Kaine Democrat.

They are also troubled by my opponent's eagerness to rubber stamp the misguided Republican agenda. He was the only so-called Democrat to vote against Gov. Warner's plan to increase funding for our public schools, health care and law enforcement. He has repeatedly opposed all efforts to relive our traffic congestion or add another tube to the congested Midtown Tunnel.

I think it's time to stand up for our Democratic principles - to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. If you agree that we need positive change, please vote for it on June 12.
