Pollard vs. ?

In a rare bit of positive news from the commonwealth in recent days, Stafford County Dem Chair Dan Smolen was delighted to inform me that Albert Pollard is officially the Democratic nominee for the open Senate seat in the 28th district. You may recall last month that Peggy Evans Garland immediately bowed out of the race, even though Pollard jumped in only days after her announcement. Albert previously served in the House of Delegates representing a district that promptly went GOP after his retirement.

The 28th district's Republicans are in total disarray. I think the people on the right who've been calling for Chichester's head the past several years may get a healthy dose of "careful what you wish for" this November. Right now, there are three Republicans in the running for their party's nomination. Former Stafford GOP chair John Van Hoy. A losing Griffis-Widewater Board of Supervisor candidate, Joe Graziano. And lastly, a poltical newcomer in Jonathon Myers. Ridiculous. They finally get their wish with Chichester retiring and this is what they come up with. Not that I'm complaining mind you.
