VA: Kilgore 43% Kaine 40%

The latest Rasmussen Reports election poll finds Republican Jerry Kilgore leading Democrat Tim Kaine by just three percentage points. In August , Kilgore had a six point lead. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

Take a look at the full Rasmussen Poll here.

This is the first Rasmussen Poll that has put Kaine within the Margin of Error against Jerry Kilgore.  In the August poll and in the three previous polls from Rasmussen, Kilgore led by a solid 6%.  Before that, Kilgore had an 8% lead.

Recently, conservative pundits have been crowing about the Jerry Kilgore's  7% lead amongst the most likely voters, as reported in this weeks Washington Post poll.  I found it interesting that that 7% was a big decrease from the 11% reported in the July Rasmussen poll.

It's two weeks after labor day and Tim Kaine has cut Kilgore's lead in half.

It's clear that the more Virginians get to know Tim Kaine, the more they are likely to vote for him and support his candidacy.

Things are moving in the right direction for Tim Kaine, but this is so close every effort each of us puts forth makes a difference.

53 days and counting.  Make every day count.

Rasmussen also has an interesting "Virginia Issues" poll out today.  Of note:  the Warner-Kaine tax reform package is favored 46% to 38%.
