Good news from David Englin to end the week...

Thank you! I just received confirmation that the surprise primary challenger who came forward Monday ultimately did not file the necessary candidacy paperwork and petitions by today's 5 p.m. deadline, which means that we can now turn our attention to victory this November. The response to this threat of challenge has been overwhelming. Friends like you from every corner of our community and beyond stepped forward quickly to show their support, whether by stuffing envelopes to reach out to voters, contributing critical campaign funds, displaying yard signs, writing blog posts, or even personally attempting to persuade this gentleman not to run.

Nice.

I sent him a mildly angry message suggesting that the grassroots rule.  The Democratic Party should be a party of the little people, a party where leaders have a broad base of popular support.  David is someone who represents the future of the Party.  I don't think a primary against a principled person who has worked to help elect other Dems to the legislature was appropriate.
