Mame Reiley Joins Brian Moran PAC

Hat tip to Ben/NLS on this one for pointing this out:

A certain Virginia Democrat is quietly and steadily laying the groundwork for a statewide run -- and it isn't Mark Warner. Amid rumors this week that Warner is being urged to run for Senate, Del. Brian Moran hired one of the former governor's longtime advisers, Mame Reiley , as a fundraising consultant for his Leadership for Virginia's Future PAC.

According to Patrick Ottenhoff, the National Journal reporter who broke the story, "the hiring of Reilly at this early point, a full two years before the election, serves notice to other Democrats considering a run that Moran intends to lock up the nomination early."  No matter how you slice it, that's big news right there, especially combined with the paltry John Warner fundraising numbers.  It's still 2007, and we've got an important election year ahead of us, but 2008 and 2009 are already looking more interesting...

This is just a speculation (AnonymousIsAWoman - 4/12/2007 8:09:25 PM)
I have a suspicion that if Mame Reiley is joining Brian Moran, with her formidable fundraising abilities, it's an indication that Mark Warner is not interested in running for governor.  That, of course, leaves open all sorts of speculation about the Senate race, especially in view of his recent remarks, reported here, that he's still interested in politics.

Given that John Warner raised a lackluster $500, as reported by Daily Kos, I also think he might not be that interested in running again.  In which case, that would be a wide open race.

The Hill and RK are also reporting Warner only raised $500.
