Del Toro Shatters 88th District Fundraising Record

This is truly astounding: Commander Carlos Del Toro raised $93,000 in the first three months of 2007, more than Del. Mark Cole (R) raised in either of his two most recent entire campaigns!

More great news:

*Del Toro has more money (over $80,000) in the bank than Cole spent in either of his two most recent entire campaigns

*Del Toro's $93,000 represents the second best all-time first quarter fundraising for a House of Delegates challenger

For comparison purposes, Mark Cole raised $86,464 in 2005 and $89,954 in 2003.  Again, Commander Del Toro has surpassed those totals in just three months.

By the way, this shouldn't be too surprising, given how little Mark Cole does for his district.  Let's face it, Cole isn't exactly the hardest working guy, even putting aside his far-right-wing ideology and lack of concern for the issues that matter to his constituents.  Luckily, voters in the 88th district have a great alternative to Cole, in the person of Commander Carlos Del Toro.  And if Del Toro keeps raising money like this, they may soon have a great new Delegate!

That is the greatest news I've heard all week (pitin - 4/11/2007 10:00:53 PM)
Commander Del Toro really is an amazing candidate.

I don't want to seem brash, (Chris Guy - 4/12/2007 12:20:02 AM)
but I'm not at all surprised. Mark Cole has NO idea what he's up against.

It's a very tough district, but... (Lowell - 4/12/2007 8:21:31 AM)
...Cole has done absolutely NOTHING to deserve re-election, regardless of party affiliation.  Just look at his record of non-accomplishment, and that becomes clear very quickly.

If del Toro can win here.... (soccerdem - 4/12/2007 9:37:46 AM)
then Virginia is turning bluer.  This is a very, very conservative district and very loyal to Mark Cole.  It will be interesting to see how this one turns out.

88th - Not that loyal a district (oncerednowblue - 4/12/2007 3:24:17 PM)
The 88th is a transient district.  Better yet, if asked, the vast majority of people in the 88th would not be able to identify Mark Cole as their representative in the Va. House of Delegates.  The lack of incumbent name recognition will definitely help Carlos.

impressive profile (bamboo - 4/12/2007 5:16:12 PM)
Del Toro should be running for Congress.
