Johnny 'Roadblock' Fails Latest Test

Last week's vote on Gov. Tim Kaine's comprehensive transportation funding bill amendments was the latest test for Johnny 'Roadblock' Joannou.

He failed it.

Kaine's common-sense much needed changes to the original Republican sponsored legislation passed 85-15.  Guess which side Johnny Roadblock was on?

Not that Hampton Roads motorists were surprised.  They are painfully aware that Joannou has done nothing to address their traffic gridlock over the years. He voted against every attempt by Gov. Mark Warner to increase transportation funding.  He voted against adding another tube to the Midtown Tunnel.  He voted against Gov. Kaine's earlier efforts to jump start stalled transportation initiatives.  And last week's vote was just another chapter in his textbook on how not to show leadership in public office.

The Virginian-Pilot has complained that Johnny Roadblock is "alone in resisting every reasonable plan to pay for" traffic improvements.  Last Wednesday's vote proved their point - again.
