Metro to the Rescue on Dulles Rail Debacle?

According to the Examiner, Metro is very concerned over the rail to Dulles project as it is currently constituted, and "could delay the project."  According to the article:

The transit system was not part of the talks, which involved Virginia transportation officials, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and Dulles Rail Partners. Board members are worried that the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation and the Washington Metropolitan Airports Authority, which will take over the project, haven't given enough consideration to building a rail tunnel through Tysons Corner. Metro is interested in the tunnel because studies indicate it will be cheaper to maintain and replace than above-ground rail.

[...]

A vote on the funding agreement is slated for May, but board members could delay action if they believe their concerns are being ignored.

Good for Metro, at least someone is thinking long-term here.  I just hope that they are able to sidetrack this project before it's too late.  As the Tysons Tunnel people say, "it's not over until it's under!"

Are you kidding me? They didn't include the people (Catzmaw - 4/3/2007 10:07:00 PM)
who'd be responsible for the physical maintenance of the system?

Apparently not. (Lowell - 4/4/2007 6:38:08 AM)
But since they didn't include the public either, and since this was done with "no-bid" contracts, I guess I'm not surprised.
