Barack Obama

Cross Posted Daily Kos

I will stop short of re-endorsing Barack Obama but to date he's the only candidate in the race I prefer.

And I prefer him because of he had it right about Iraq from the start.

He still has it right. Last month, Barack Obama introduced a phased redeployment bill with Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-PA). Patrick Murphy is the first Iraq War Veteran to serve in Congress.

Tim Kaine and his wife Ann endorsed the Obama Campaign, I will stop just short of that now since I am still officially holding out hope for Clark or Gore.

But, if they should not decide to run I will continue to support and later officially re-endorse Barack Obama.

Today, I plan to give him $25.
While it's all this military man can afford right now, it's worth it for my future. For our future, and for my son's future.

To date, this will be my first campaign contribution of the 2008 cycle.

Jim Webb didn't win the primary last year or even the General election because of big money (though it helped tremendously). He won because people like me and you gave all they could to a candidate they believed in.

I gave Jim Webb everything I could for his campaign. And I am proud of what we did last year.

But the work has just begun. This fight for our future has just begun.

Why do we do what we do? Why do we care? Why do we sit and debate whether online or in person?

Because we care about our future, because we too are hopeful for a better day.

If we we didn't have dreams for our future, for this party, for our country we wouldn't do this.

We wouldn't care, we wouldn't vote, we wouldn't pay attention.

But that's what's happened to our country, that's what happened to our neighbors.

Whether it's a layoff, or a high electric bill, gas prices, baby formula, or choosing groceries over medicine.

The average American doesn't have time to watch the news, read the paper, or pay attention.

They've lost hope.

We have seen time and time again. Promises, Promises, Promises. Promises broken.

They only care about us during elections, they only care about us during financial deadlines.

Barack Obama is offering a different kind of hope, a different kind of message, a different kind of future.

He may not be the most experienced person in the race, but he's not just an empty suit.

He's intelligent, he cares.

I don't think Barack Obama is running for President because he wants to, he's running for President because he has to.

Someone has to speak out, someone has to stand up, someone has to finally make a change.

If we don't have real change soon, we too will give up hope. We too will stop paying attention.

This is about our democracy.

This is about our future.

This is about our debate.

It is too important to give up, it's too important to stay silent, it's too important to wait.

We must act, and we must act now.

UPDATE: Tim Kaine must of read my diary just got this email!

Friends -

More and more, Virginians understand that Democrats are working together for smarter government that works for Virginians. And we've succeeded: Under Democratic leadership, we have accomplished so much, like Forbes.com naming us "the best state for business" and Education Week publishing a survey that shows children born in Virginia have a better chance for life success than those born in any other state in this nation.

Today, more than ever, this nation needs a results-oriented President with the values and vision to move this country forward the way we've moved Virginia forward. I endorsed Senator Barack Obama in February because I believe that's exactly the kind of President he will be.

Join me in supporting Senator Obama's campaign - please contribute today!

Over the course of the campaign in 2005, Senator Obama and I got to know each other, and discovered we had more in common than both having started our careers as civil rights attorneys. We're both committed to strengthening this country from top to bottom, offering opportunity to all and creating the conditions that will allow all Americans to take full advantage of that opportunity.

Your support means a lot to me, and I know it means a great deal to Senator Obama. As you know, the March 31st 1st quarter fundraising deadline is quickly approaching. The work that we do early in this contest is so important - and I am so proud that Virginians across the Commonwealth are getting involved in Senator Obama's campaign. It's that kind of grassroots, shoe leather activism that makes Obama for America what it is. The Obama campaign has set a goal of winning the support of 100,000 grassroots donors by midnight Saturday, and I know that Virginia will come through for my friend.

Be 100,000 strong with Barack Obama - contribute to beat the March 31 deadline!

Warm Regards,

Signed, Tim Kaine

It's time to do something.

I love Barack Obama (Josh - 3/30/2007 4:10:05 PM)
He'll do great things in the White House.

I'm still looking for some powerhouse positions from him, but I haven't made up my mind.

Iraq (drmontoya - 3/30/2007 4:12:10 PM)
Standing up when most Democrats didn't is very powerful.

Vote Vets ??? (JohnBruhns - 3/30/2007 4:18:41 PM)
Dave, are you in Vote Vets? I am

www.votevets.org

Yeah, I am (drmontoya - 3/30/2007 4:27:15 PM)
Great Navy commercial today. I loved it.

Front page of their website (JohnBruhns - 3/30/2007 6:18:47 PM)
You will see me with some other Iraq vets and Rep. Patrick Murphy - a friend of mine.

Pat Murphy (drmontoya - 3/30/2007 10:14:24 PM)
Is also a friend of mine as well. We ought to have lunch!

John, you're supporting Edwards right? (Lowell - 3/30/2007 4:29:48 PM)
I'd just be interested to hear you and Dave talk about the issue of Edwards co-sponsoring the IWR.  Thanks.

I'd be willing to debate (drmontoya - 3/30/2007 4:33:39 PM)
Anyone on that, anytime. As long as beer is involved.

lol.

Here is your debate (JohnBruhns - 3/30/2007 6:32:11 PM)
Edwards voted for the IWR and Obama didn't !!  He was not in the U.S. Senate , and Obama opposed it from the start.

I fully understand that so there is no real debate.  I love Obama, but I'm just more of an Edwards guy.

Edwards came out a long time ago against it, apologized, and created a plan for the future of America.  Obama did too - and his plan is good.

If Obama is the nominee I will support him 150% !!!

The only Dem I can't see myself working for right now is Hillary.

I held out very long for Wes Clark to throw his hat in.  But the race has started , the Dems have three candidates --Hillary, Obama, and Edwards - I choose Edwards.

I trust that both Obama and Edwards will get us out of Iraq.  Hillary - I don't trust to bring the troops home.

I also think Richardson is great , but don't have much faith he will get the nomination.

But if you and Dave want to grab some beers ... Let's do it.

PS.  If you guys want to get me into a debate , find a Hillary supporter !!!

Any fellow VoteVets (drmontoya - 3/30/2007 10:16:07 PM)
Guy who wants to have beers is good with me. Just ask Jon Soltz or Lowell.

Lowell knows how to get a hold of me (since he is my blogfather and all) ;)

Will do (JohnBruhns - 3/31/2007 7:44:12 AM)
Sounds good Dave -- we'll get together soon.  I'll get in touch with Lowell so we can exchange contact info.

Talk soon - John Bruhns

Indeed (JohnBruhns - 3/30/2007 6:33:27 PM)
I'm supporting John Edwards !!!!

I guess that answers the question (Chris Guy - 4/1/2007 1:16:35 AM)
regarding Gen. Clark.

I love Obama, but I also really like Edwards and Richardson. Tough choice.

Go with Edwards, Chris (DanG - 4/2/2007 6:48:59 PM)
I had a tough time deciding between Edwards and Richardson myself.  I honestly don't think Richardson will break into the top tier, and at this point his best chance is to be VP.  Edwards-Richardson would be a DAMN tough ticket for any Republican candidate.
