Washington, DC on April 17, 6:30 - 9:00 PM,
at the Stewart Mott House at 122 Maryland Ave., NE

...(at the corner of Maryland Avenue & Constitution Avenue.)  It's about as close to the Capitol as you can get without being elected, a few blocks from Union Station & Metro.  Best of all, you don't have to be a lobbyist or even a Republican to afford it.  We are asking for a minimum donation of $35 per person.  Light snacks and soft drinks will be available.  A modest donation will be asked for beer & wine.  Parking is hard to come by in the immediate vicinity but should be available on the street within a few blocks or at Union Station.

A few more notes and areas in which we need some help in bringing together this truly rassroots fundraiser:

Register & RSVP ASAP doing so will give us some idea how many people to expect and how much beer, wine & hors d'oeuvres to buy (unless someone creative & with some time to devote it will probably be more like veggies & chips rather than the K Street lobbyist fare of crabcakes & steak).
Please join our Host Committee (in formation) with a $100 pledge - if they arrive in time you will receive a YearlyKos Convention lapel pin that will identify you as a charter member of the "Internet Political Mafia".
Spread the word, we won't be doing much publicity besides blog posts and viral networking.  Our invitation flyer is here.
Be oral, in addition to spreading the word online, call a few friends & make them an offer they can't refuse by committing to attend.
Help us with food & drink.  In true grassroots style, we are not hiring a caterer.  Anything you can bring will be appreciated.  If this of interest to you, please email Nolan.
Set up & clean up is a 100% volunteer function.  If you have time, please lend a hand.

Invite liberally.  We have invited several other progressive Members of Congress (thanks again to Sen. Feingold & Rep. Miller for commiting early on!) but there are many who we have probably overlooked or whose schedulers e-mailboxes are always overflowing.  If you want to invite your favorite congressional, especially if you know the Member or staff, there will be room, just check first with Howard who has been doing outreach for the event.

Your ideas -- what can we do to make this a fun, enlightening and successful event for YearlyKos?
Most of all please come, bring yourself and your friends.  Please contact us directly if you have any ideas or questions.

Below is a little language to make our lawyer friends happy, and it's the truth:

This is a grassroots event and only modest donations are solicited to attend, as reflected above.  The YearlyKos Convention also seeks sponsorship for our convention in Chicago, August 2 - 5, if interested please contact Linda Lee at Linda@yearlykosconvention.org.  For our event on April 17, the YearlyKos Convention and elected officials are soliciting maximum donations of $2,300 from an individual or up to $5,000 from a multi-candidate committee.  In addition, for the 4/17 event we are not soliciting funds from corporations, national banks or labor unions.  All proceeds benefit Bloggerpower.org, a 501 (c) 4 organization.
