I'll probably do another before Saturday, Midnight.

wow... (Rob - 3/30/2007 9:32:09 AM)
now at $17,340!  Almost there!

Thanks for the VB Dems plug, Lowell (elevandoski - 3/30/2007 10:08:50 AM)
We have 5 great candidates on our ActBlue page:

Bobby Mathieson - Bobby is running in a district that went Webb 3.44%/Kellam 5.97%/Kaine 12.88%.  It's winnable and we've got a really great candidate in Bobby.  So says Steve Jarding and you don't argue with Steve Jarding! Bobby is a retired Beach cop and deputy director of the Virginia Criminal Justice Department. His opponent, GOPper incumbent John Welch, aka Doc, is a complete lackluster legislator who filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy last year. Kinda gives you pause considering they let him weigh in on budgets etc. Yikes!

Joe Bouchard is challenging the relic of the dark ages' Leo Wardrup for the 83rd. Meet Joe and see exactly why Delegate Brian Moran and David Ashe are each so excited about Joe being our candidate. Leo's been playing fast and dirty with the law around VB and the press loves covering every detail of Wardrup's escapades.  "He's "often vexed and often vexing" as the Virginian-Pilot so aptly put it. "What does Leo Wardrup want?", they ask. "The question is as perplexing, the answer as inscrutable as Freud's famed dilemma about women." Ha!

Virginia Beach native Bob MacIver throws his hat into the ring for the 82nd House district, challenging GOPper Bob Purkey. Bob, now retired, is a former information technology consultant for Fortune 500 businesses all across the county, Canada, and Scotland. He also spent four years in the Air Force.

We also have Delegate Paula Miller on our list. She's running for re-election AGAIN (3rd race in 4 years)!!! That's tough on any candidate! Three interesting things to note about her 87th: 1) Thelma Drake lost this, her home district, to Phil Kellam in 2006, 52% to 47.5%, 2) the 87th House district is 100% in the 6th Senate district where our outstanding Democratic candidate, Dr. Ralph Northam (a candidate both on RK's and VB Dems' ActBlue pages) faces Sen. Nick "FemiNazi" Rerras, and 3) Republicans want this seat so badly that they are already trying pathetically to disparage and belittle her and the great work she has done in just 3 short years. That's why it's really important to support Paula early and often, and help her put this nonsense to bed.

McEachin (KCinDC - 3/30/2007 11:20:11 PM)
What's with the two listings for Donald McEachin? Is he running for delegate and senator simultaneously? Are his HoD campaign funds transferable to a senate campaign?

The delegate listing will be deleted soon (Lowell - 3/31/2007 9:59:06 AM)
since McEachin has now announced for State Senate.  ActBlue will take care of the rest (e.g., $$$, reporting...).  Thanks.

Correct (KTatActBlue - 3/31/2007 12:10:15 PM)
Don still has 2 listings for another day but rest assured, all the money given to him under either listing will be getting to him (though you probably want to switch over to giving under the Senate one now.

$20k reached (KCinDC - 3/31/2007 10:14:50 AM)
Someone had left it $3.02 short. That couldn't be allowed to stand.

Wow, that's awesome! (Lowell - 3/31/2007 10:28:02 AM)
Thanks to everyone who's contributed and made this drive as successful as it's been.  What a great accomplishment by all of you to raise $20,000 in just 5 weeks online, especially when just a few weeks ago, I think most of us would have been impressed if we had raised $5,000 or $10,000!

Now that we've reached $20,000, let's keep it going, to $30,000, $50,000, $100,000, whatever it takes so that we Virginia Democrats can have a voice again in our General Assembly.  Let's keep it going so that in November, we will take control of the State Senate, pick up seats in the House of Delegates, and really start to turn things around in Virginia once and for all.

And don't forget, if we take back the State Senate, that puts us in excellent position when Congressional redistricting comes along in 2011.  So, the stakes aren't just for Virginia, but for Congress and the entire country.  Let's keep moving Virginia out of the "red," past the "purple," and towards the "blue."  Thanks again to all you Democratic netroots activists out there!
