John and Teresa Heinz Kerry are out with their new book, This Moment on Earth," "[a]n inspiring celebration of courageous American innovators who are transforming the way we protect and care for the world we live in."  Is there an audience for another book on the environment?  It sure looks that way, as "This Moment on Earth" is - for the moment - ranked #6 at Amazon.com.

What's ahead of "This Moment on Earth" gives us a nice little glimpse into American culture and priorities in the year 2007:

1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7) (no need for further commentary on this one)
2. The Secret ("understand the hidden, untapped power that's within you, and [how] this revelation can bring joy to every aspect of your life" - gack!)
3. Spiritual Connections: How to Find Spirituality Throughout All the Relationships in Your Life (this title is so freakin' long, it needs no further explanation)
4. You: On A Diet: The Owner's Manual for Waist Management (peoples' continued obsession with how much they weigh; hint - eat right and exercise regularly!)
5. How Doctors Think (wouldn't watching "Scrubs" tell you all you need to know on this subject? - ha)

Finally, we get to a serious book on a serious subject, "This Moment on Earth" by Senator and Mrs. Kerry.  I look forward to reading it; I'm sure James Inhofe and Joe Barton are as well.  Heh.

It begs the question... (relawson - 3/27/2007 10:32:43 PM)
Will Senator Kerry surprise us and announce a run in 2008?  I know he has said otherwise...but this is about the time all those who want to be candidates release books.

Maybe I'm just being a skeptic ;-)

I am 99.9% sure that Kerry isn't running. (Lowell - 3/28/2007 5:51:59 AM)
The two that I'm curious about are Wes Clark and Al Gore.
