Thank you to everyone who has donated on the RK/ActBlue fundraising page. To date, we have raised  $8,540.45 from 102 donors.  Top recipients are Albert Pollard ($4,480) and Donald McEachin ($2,052).  So, how about we shoot for $10,000 in netroots money by the end of the first quarter (in just 8 days)?  Besides Pollard and McEachin, you can give to Chap Petersen, Janet Oleszek, Carlos del Toro, Bruce Roemmelt, Troy Farlow and/or Eric Ferguson.  Thanks again for all your help to our great Democratic candidates!

[UPDATE: Albert Pollard has a special message on the "flip."]

Folks -

We have a challenge? some of you may not even be aware, but 8 days ago I decided to run for the State Senate, for the seat being vacated by John Chichester.  Just 4 days ago I announced and today we are setting a goal raise $10,000 online by the first filing deadline, next Friday, March 31st.

We think this is a ridiculously aggressive goal, but that is why it is fun to pursue it? (Some would also say that sensible, responsible government is also a  ridiculously aggressive goal, but we feel compelled to pursue that too).

The link to donate is: http://www.actblue.c...

Folks who give now will get a complimentary ticket to a later event so they are not "punished" for giving early.  In other words, if there is an event with Mark Warner mid-summer in Westmoreland that is $50 a head and from near there gives $50 now, then they will receive a ticket to that event.

No donation is too small or too large - $10, $25, $100, $1,000 - whatever folks can afford after Christmas bills and upcoming taxes.

The outpouring of support since I decided to run 8 days ago is pretty overwhelming. In the past week since I have decided to run, we have announced the candidacy, had dozens and dozens of phone calls and e-mails, planned the major outline of the campaign, hired a manager and deputy manager, started gathering signatures, opened a bank account, seen a flattering amount of checks come in the door, put up a website (www.pollardforsenate.com - it's pretty basic right now), taken two pigs to market (seriously!), received 200 baby chicks in the mail, and gotten Verizon to switch a phone line to "Pollard for Senate" without messing up the listing (which took more effort and pain than anything else).

Thanks for your support.  As always, I hate to ask for money, but it is what we need in order to break through the partisan barriers and keep the legacy of sensible leadership alive.

Thanks again.

Albert.
