Albert Pollard Issues a Challenge

From Albert Pollard, a great Democrat running for State Senate in the 28th district.

Folks -

We have a challenge? some of you may not even be aware, but 8 days ago I decided to run for the State Senate in the seat being vacated by John Chichester.  Just 4 days ago I announced and today we are setting a goal raise $10,000 online by the first filing deadline, next Friday, March 31st.

We think this is a ridiculously aggressive goal, but that is why it is fun to pursue it? (some would also say that sensible, responsible government is also a  ridiculously aggressive goal, but we feel compelled to pursue that too).

The link to give is: http://www.actblue.c...

Folks who give now will get a complimentary ticket to a later event so they are not "punished" for giving early.  In other words, if there is an event with Mark Warner mid-summer in the West End that is $50 a head and someone from the West End gives $50 now, then they will receive a ticket to that event.

No donation is too large or small $10, $25, $100? whatever folks can afford after Christmas bills and with taxes coming.

The outpouring of support since I decided to run 8 days ago is pretty overwhelming? in the past week since I have decided to run, we have: announced, had dozens and dozens of calls and e-mails, planned the major outline of a campaign, hired a manager and deputy manager, started gathering signatures, opened a bank account, gotten 5K in the door, put up a website (pollardforsenate.com - it's pretty basic right now), taken two pigs to get made to sausage, gotten 200 chickens in the mail; and, gotten Verizon to switch a phone line to "Pollard for Senate" without messing up the listing (which took more effort and pain than anything else).

Thanks for your support.  As always, I hate to ask for money, but it is what we need in order to break through the partisan barriers and keep the legacy of sensible leadership alive.

Thanks again.

Albert.

PS My "good" e-mail lists from previous campaigns is deep in some computer, so it is a great help if you could forward this to folks who think might be interested.
