UPDATE on DPVA Website

According to Bullseye Interactive Media, the developer (contractor?) of DPVA's new website, they were under, what logically seems like, a ludicrous and uncomfortable timeframe to get the website developed and tested properly.

We had barely two months to design, develop, implement and launch their new website [emphasis provided]. The goal was simple: build the best state party website ever. It had to be clean, simple and easy to navigate while yielding the most relevant and necessary information. A visitor to the site had to be able to find exactly what they were looking for in under 30 seconds and the state party had to be able to present what they wanted visitors to see.
...

Since they say they had barely two months to design, develop, implement and launch a State Party's official website, I think I'd now say that they did a pretty good job considering the unrealistic timeframe given them to deliver (and if they were given only 2 months to do the entire job, as they claim, then it was ill-conceived by someone also).

But what I'm now wondering is why Bullseye was given only 2 months to do the job since the DPVA had been promising a new website for ages now?  In fact if you go back 2 months from the January  2007 release date that takes us to November 2006, when we, here on RK, were all talking about what the new site might look like and what we hoped they had incorporated into it (I was assuming that the new website was in the testing and evaluation phase by the end of November).  Was Bullseye just then being "hired" to begin the website development in November 2006?

Don't know what or if they were being paid, but if they were under pressure to replace the old website with a new one in just 2 months, then I can now understand the navigation problems, the search problems, the unreadable type problems,  etc.

But now it's been another 2 months since it's release .... where are the fixes and who should we be reporting the problems to?  There's nothing on the website to report errors/feedback to (no webmaster contact).

A meaningful quote from Rob back in November 2006 when we were discussing the anticipated website:
"...the website is the organization's public face to the Commonwealth and the world..."

PS  BTW the "back" function works on Bullseye's website...

Hi,

Just wanted to make sure you knew that you're concerns will be relayed.

Brenner Tobe, Director of Technology, and Mike Sager, the Deputy Director for our staff, are the main administrators of our website.

A suggestion that I've examined in regard to the text size, is to use the Mozilla Firefox browser instead of the MS Explorer. On the Firefox browser, the "View" function with its "Text size" option works better than what I found on the Explorer browser.

I'll see to it that your posts on RK are addressed.

Thanks for sharing your concerns!

Dickie Cranwell on the road (DukieDem - 3/21/2007 1:54:49 PM)
Am I the only person who wants a reality show with Chairman Cranwell stopping at McDonald's across the Commonwealth as shown in the video?

O.K. I saw the diary so had to check it out again...

They need to include a few more pics of women in the Democratic Party.  And what about those little icons on the right for "Volunteer"and "Speak-Out"..are those guys in orange ties ?

Its certainly an improvement..just needs a few tweaks.

Can someone tell me if they are having... (Dianne - 3/21/2007 8:00:07 PM)
...trouble with the "back" function.  When I right click and chose "back" or click on the Back Button in the browser, the current pages just sits there and never goes back.
