The response to our article about Fairfax County Republican Delegate Dave Albo, how vulnerable and out of touch he is with his district, has received a strong response. The netroots has spoken loud and clear: they want Kate Wilder to step up and take Dave Albo down! Kate Wilder stepped up to the plate in the Webb Campaign. She was a solid volunteer from before the primary through the general election who worked in the office nearly every day. She worked to build Jim's presence outreach among veterans. She travelled around the Commonwealth to talk about Jim's committment to Virginians values and she got front and center to help rebut George Allen scurilous attacks against Jim Webb's record on women's issues.
Kate has lived in the 42nd District since 1988. Like Jim, she served our country and retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel and settled down in Northern Virginia. While in the Army, she broke down barriers, overcame abuse and harrassment to become the first woman Green Beret in Army history. President Kennedy once said "the green beret is a symbol of excellence, a badge of courage, and a mark of distiction in the fight for freedom."
We want to call Kate Wilder to duty to show the courage to lead the people again. We've seen what beating one incumbent can do in the United States Senate. We want to see Kate bring her skills to be ar on Dave Albo and the government-hating obstructionists that hold power in the House of Delegates. Because Dave Albo must go, it's time to Draft Kate Wilder to serve.

P.S. By the way, you do NOT have to be in Kate's district to sign the petition. The fact is that anyone can help Kate from anywhere in Virginia with money, phone calls, or other support. It all counts; thanks for supporting Kate Wilder!
I also know that anyone who can get through Airborne School has the chutzpah to take on Albo and take him out. Go Kate.

Anyway, Senator Webb appeared and spoke. Brian Moran pointed out to much applause that Senator Webb was the first Senator to appear at this event. This is because he keeps his promises. Brian Moran supported him in his run for the Senate and so did Kate Wilder.
If Kate Wilder runs you know Senator Webb will do whatever he can to promote her candidacy. Moreover, as Lowell said in another diary, there are plenty of the "ragtag army" who would be happy to join and support her. And there are others. I personally know two people from Albo's district who dislike him so much they told me they would gladly volunteer for anyone who runs against him. That it would be someone of Kate Wilder's caliber would only sweeten the pot.
Ms. Wilder is a pioneer. She became a Green Beret without having any woman predecessor on whom to model herself. She's an achiever and can do whatever she sets her mind to. I hope she decides to run because if she does she's going to win and she's going to make a difference in Richmond.
