Bad News for Tom Davis, Virginia

The Washington Times reports that George Allen will host a dinner in Alexandria in the next few days to gauge his chances of returning to the U.S. Senate, should John Warner retire next year. Hopefully this will go about as well for Allen as John Kerry's get-together last year to ask people whether or not he should run for President again. I would advise Mr. Allen to figure out which office Mark Warner will NOT run for, Senator or Governor, before making any decision on a political comeback.

Poor George, I guess he figured out the one thing more boring than being a Senator. Being unemployed.

Seriously? (DanG - 3/15/2007 10:02:55 AM)
George, come on man.  The Macaca incident is fresh in peoples' minds.  The unbeleivable upset by Jim Webb is fresh in peoples' minds.  YOU are fresh in peoples' minds, and that's not a good thing.  This election was so brutal that it's effects will change with time: By the time Jim Webb is looking to be re-elected, all his controversies will be old news.  Likewise, eventually Allen's Macaca and N-Word controversies will die down, but it'll take a while.  If he runs for office now, I bet that when he announces every media outlet refers to him as "The man who lost re-election to Senator Jim Webb after calling a young man of Indian decent Macaca."

It would be a bad move for George to run again, especially if it's against Mark Warner.  If George loses two-in-a-row, he's done.

And if he loses this one, I'll have to say its back to the private sector for good for old Boy George...

I never thought I'd say this (demnan - 3/15/2007 10:19:20 AM)
but there are some people out there that make Tom Davis look really good.  Why would the 11th trade a moderate, competent Congressman with excellent staff for an inept bigoted radical right winger whose staff were noticably incompetent when he was Senator.

Why doesn't he move to Iowa? (Lowell - 3/15/2007 10:23:24 AM)
Since he said he wished he had been born there.  Just a thought.

Wait, what? (phriendlyjaime - 3/15/2007 10:36:53 AM)

AAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!  AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!  BWAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!

Oh my God, I can't breathe....and Chris, I hold you responsible for the coffee that is all over my keyboard.

Maybe this is where they'll give out those Allen stickers the aide was passing out when he conceded, claiming they were "for the future!"

Do you think you can make your point without denigrating (beachmom - 3/15/2007 11:23:39 AM)
our former Democratic nominee?  Is that too much to ask?

We're an equal opportunity slam here (DanG - 3/15/2007 12:43:43 PM)
We make fun of everybody!  Come on, beachmom.  I know you love Kerry, but you got to admit, the guy was a vegetable when it comes to charisma.  Hey, it's okay.  I like Al Gore a lot, but have recently had to start calling him "The Big Guy" because of Al's...ehem...weight issues.  Plus, Gore isn't exactly thought of as Charismatic, if you know what I mean.

We make fun of our own all the time.  It's a lot of fun!  Try it!  Again, Dems can make fun of Dems.  It's when Republicans do it that we have to fight back. :)

Ummm (fedup - 3/15/2007 1:06:27 PM)
Boy you can tel you never ever met John Kerry, you wouldn't know charisma if it hit you in the face. With your attitude it is a wonder any Democrat could win anything since you are so far fetched and unproven in your diatribe.

Keep on making fun of other Dems and you'll see how your fun turns ugly.

By the way and this is a fact many of us would not have even voted for Jim Webb if it wasn't for John kerry's words to us and his support of him.

The now Senator Webb thought his support was very helpful too.

Jim Webb (VA):

"Keeping Americas Promise has been extremely helpful to our campaign by not only raising awareness of the race, but also significant funds. I am personally very grateful to John Kerry and everyone involved for all of their efforts!"

Keep on joking for making fun is a lot easier then looking at things seriously and actually doing something other then just spewing words.

I did meet John Kerry (DanG - 3/15/2007 4:04:47 PM)
Shook his hand at the rally in Norfolk before the Convention.  3000 people or so showed up. I said, "The country's in your hands, Senator."

Don't get me wrong, I think Kerry was a very smart guy and he had some great ideas.  But Bill Clinton he was not.  Charisma means, fedup, that wherever you go, you are the center of attention simply by being yourself.  Again, I saw Kerry in person.  He looked awkward.  Also, I never said John Kerry was helpful to Jim Webb, and I never said I didn't thank him for running in 2004.  That was your own interpretation.  I just said he had no charisma... which he DIDN'T.  That's not just me, friend.  There was reason all the late night people (Stewart, Letterman, Leno) called him a Frankenstein.  Letterman is an admitted Democrat, yet he teased Kerry all the time!  Is he going to "get it" as well?

And I'm of the opinion that you HAVE to be willing to laugh at yourself, and at other Democrats.  The Democratic Party isn't perfect, and isn't above a joke.  Get a sense of humor, man.

Correction (DanG - 3/15/2007 4:09:54 PM)
Correction: "Also, I never said John Kerry wasn't helpful to Jim Webb."

You are a dead man, DanG. (phriendlyjaime - 3/15/2007 1:11:09 PM)

For making fun of Gore, Jaime? (DanG - 3/15/2007 3:50:33 PM)
Oh come on!  Laugh a little! :)

I had no intention of denigrating Kerry (Chris Guy - 3/15/2007 3:44:56 PM)
The result of that meeting Kerry hosted last year with friends and supporters did not have the result he was looking for. I'm hoping that the same could be said of Allen's upcoming pow-wow.

What meeting ? (fedup - 3/16/2007 7:13:14 AM)
and your proof? Funny I was with Kerry supporters from all over the country in Boston late last year and that was not the result. So what are you talking about ?

Oh! (DanG - 3/16/2007 10:34:05 AM)
Now I understand you're response to me!  You're, like beachmom, a very strong Kerry supporter!  That's cool.  But just please try to remember this, fedup.  There is no such thing as a perfect candidate.  John Kerry was far from perfect.  I guess I follow the "Ben Tribbett" style of blogging, and think that it's perfectly okay to make fun of the fact that Democrats aren't perfect.

Just ask yourself this question: would you, as a Kerry supporter, posted that angry response had I made fun of somebody else, like Howard Dean?  And be honest with yourself, dude.

We love George Allen (drmontoya - 3/15/2007 2:20:01 PM)
more football to kick around!

Hmmmm, Allen Or Kerry (Lee Diamond - 3/15/2007 5:51:37 PM)
The Democrats need to develop some love for charisma, but I'll go after Allen.  The guy's a loser.  I hope he runs and it will improve our chances of winning VA for our nominee in '08, Bill Richardson or Barack Obama.  The Democrats are the Party of the future.

George Allen washed up on the shore last year, picked clean.  His fake persona is all gone.  He's going to have to ride through Buena Vista in the NUDE!  I'll be there to take pictures of his punk ass.
